Iraola wants Liverpool sharper before Fenerbahce clash

Liverpool's heading to Turkey on Wednesday chasing a fourth straight win in the Champions League, and their boss isn't exactly thrilled with how they've been finishing chances lately.

Andoni Iraola reckons the Reds need to tighten up their attacking play, though he's not losing sleep over the gap between what they're doing domestically versus in Europe. Fair point—they're sitting pretty with a perfect record in continental competition so far this season.

A win at Fenerbahce would be massive. Gets them properly positioned for the knockout stage with a few group games still left. The Turkish side, though, just brought in Dirk Kuyt as interim boss after Ismail Kartal got the axe last week. Kuyt's a legend at Liverpool, but this'll be his first European match in charge of anyone.

So yeah, there's history there. Kuyt spent six years at Anfield, won trophies, scored important goals. Now he's trying to pull off a shock against his old club. It's the kind of storyline football loves.

Iraola's basically saying don't underestimate this. Yes, Liverpool are cruising in Europe. Yes, they look different from their Premier League selves. But they've got to be clinical. Can't afford to waste openings against a side that'll be hungry to prove something under new management.
