Bournemouth's £85m bargain hunt makes United look silly

Bournemouth just put on a masterclass in how to spend smart. Three goals in their 3-0 demolition of Manchester United came from players who cost a combined £85m — a Vasco da Gama lad, someone from Middlesbrough, and a Porto signing. Add it up and you're looking at genuine value.

Meanwhile, United's transfer department keeps doing the same thing over and over. They've watched Rayan, Marcus Tavernier, and Evanilson thrive elsewhere while their own signings crater in value the second they land at Old Trafford. It's almost impressive how consistently they get it wrong.

The gap isn't about money anymore. Bournemouth work within actual constraints and still turn a profit on most deals. United? They lose cash on nearly everything. Jason Wilcox and the rest of the coaching staff can cite all the structural problems they want, but talent scouts who actually know where to look can still find quality players at reasonable prices. United apparently can't, or won't.

Elsewhere, Araújo's settling in nicely at Liverpool. Two games in and he's already earning respect — exactly the kind of smooth adaptation you want from a new defender. Brighton couldn't handle Liverpool's press, losing 2-0, while Aston Villa scraped past Manchester City 2-1 in a match that could've gone either way.

Then there's Chelsea. They imploded against Tottenham, conceding twice and looking genuinely rattled. Spurs are clicking right now, everything's flowing, and Alonso's Chelsea side just looks broken by comparison. Sometimes a tactical glitch costs you more than points — it costs you momentum.
